CENTA presents a new propeller shaft coupling with thrust bearing at METS 2010, Trade Fair for Boat Equipment and Accessories. Due to the use of new thrust bearings upgraded in performance, especially large yachts benefit from this CENTA solution.
A trend toward large sporty and comfortable yachts is becoming obvious in the yacht industry. CENTA stays abreast of these changes and presents a new propeller shaft coupling at METS 2010. The coupling designed for use behind the gear deflects the propeller thrust or pull to the boat’s hull by a thrust bearing. Therefore the motor remains free of propeller thrust and can be installed on highly flexible engine mounts.
New thrust bearing units with considerably higher propeller thrust make the coupling of interest especially for large yachts with high performance and torques above 15,000 Nm. Work boats also profit from the new CENTA solution regarding the workplace regulation for the protection from noise and vibration: Next to the compensation for considerable misalignments, the coupling also offers the damping of torsional vibrations and impulses as well as the interruption of structure born noise and vibrations. The noise level on board is considerably reduced. Further expansion of the range up to 50,000 Nm torque will be realised in the middle term.
