CENTA celebrates the sale of half a million marine couplings. Among these couplings were 100,000 super flexible CENTAX-couplings.
In 1988, CENTA developed their CENTAX "Super Elastic Coupling System" (SEC), a super flexible coupling system with a modular design for all 4-stroke engine sizes. This year, the CENTAX-SEC turns 20 years old, and CENTA celebrates the sale of half a million marine couplings. Among these couplings were 100,000 super flexible CENTAX-couplings, which have proven their worth in tough assignments on the seven seas and in industrial applications day in and day out.
During the past years, the coupling system was continuously expanded with new sizes and types. At the SMM Trade Fair 2004, CENTA presented the CENTAX-SEC 200, the first spanned coupling, consisting of two segments. Two years later, the series was expanded by another coupling, which contained four segments and increased the torque range to 650 kNm. At this years SMM the new sizes "188" and "288" were presented.
Several international classification societies have already granted CENTA type approvals. In 1990, the company’s quality management system was first approved by DIN ISO 9001. Since that time, all subsequent audits have been passed successfully. Just recently, CENTA was the first company worldwide to which Germanischer Lloyd (GL) conferred the responsibility for alternative product certification of type-approved couplings. A sign of trust confirming CENTA’s commitment to continuous quality improvement.
