CENTA presents new slip system
CENTA will be presenting the enhanced version of CENTA Torque Hub, the market-leading slip clutch. The new slip system offers an extremely simple and low-cost design which combines the experience and expertise gained in numerous applications.
Especially circuit problems may cause short-term torque peaks in wind power plants. Slip clutches protect the gear against overload by slipping at a defined maximum torque in order to temporarily interrupt the drive. The slip process is not performed on the generator shaft but inside the torque hub which is mounted on the generator shaft in the coupling’s clamping set.
CENTA will now present the latest development of the slip system whose slip unit has been allocated to the middle section of the shaft. Shifting the slip function also means that manufacturing tolerances at the generator shaft no longer result in diffusion in the slip torque. Accuracy and availability of the slip function are thus considerably improved.
Another advantage of the new design: the slip system will be premounted as a complete unit. To this end, the maximum torque will be set in a certified test bench according to the manufacturer’s requirements and documented in a test report. On-site adjustments are no longer required.
The low-maintenance slip system is designed to allow for multiple slip processes (> 200) without having a major impact on the slip torque. Depending on the size, a torque range of up to 120kNm is covered. The new slip system can also be provided as a low-cost system component which does not include the coupling unit.
The innovative CENTA couplings and drives are always based on the latest technology. CENTA has a long history of innovation. It has been offering a wide range of flexible couplings and shafts for more almost four decades, which propelled the company into a leadership position in various industries worldwide, including marine engineering and the energy sector.
